  • 摘要:Power Quality (PQ) mainly deals withissues like maintaining a fixed voltage at the Point ofCommon Coupling (PCC) for various distributionvoltage levels irrespective of voltage fluctuations,maintaining near unity power factor power drawnfrom the supply. Flexible AC Transmission Systems(FACTS) and Custom Power products likeSTATCOM, DVR and UPQC deal with the issuesrelated to power quality using similar controlstrategies and concepts. Unlike DVR and STATCOM,unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) employsthe integration of both series-active and shunt-activepower filters to mitigate any type of voltage andcurrent fluctuations and power factor correction in apower distribution network. The unified powerquality conditioner (UPQC) is being used as auniversal active power conditioning device to mitigateboth current and voltage harmonics at a distributionside of power system network. This paper emphasizesthe importance of UPQC application for better powerquality, by comparing the mitigated voltage andcurrent THD values among DSTATCOM, DVR &UPQC connected to a system with a distorted load.There after a novel design of UPQC is implementedusing PI-Resonant control strategy for furthermitigating THD’S of voltage and current at the loadside in the system.
