摘要:During the last decades, the development of high dimensional large-scale imaging devices increases the need of fast, accurate and parallelizable segmentation methods. Due to its intrinsic advantages such as its ability to handle complex shapes, the level set method (LSM) has been widely used. In this paper, Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) has been proposed to simulate the well known active contour model (the CV model) for image segmentation. The proposed method provides a new numerical solution for solving the level set equation of the active contour model. As a local and explicit scheme, the algorithm based on LBM is not only stable with large steps, but also overcomes the difficulty in parallel computing of most implicit difference approaches. Experimental results demonstrate that LBM is computationally more efficient than the semi-implicit discrete method of CV model.
