  • 摘要:Passive optical network (PON) is a part of teleco mmunication network which is characterized by point to multipo int architecture. PON has huge potent ial to use optical fiber for high speed and data rate, but t hey are prone to high power consumptio n. This attracted the attention of ma ny to come up with many different po licies, energy efficient strategies, and protocols. Exponential gro wth in dema nd o f more and more data, voice, and information processing requires something solut ions high on bandwidth a nd less on po wer consumpt ion. This can be achieved by implementing proper po wer management with PON which is not available in Time Division Mult iplexing (TMD) PON. Power management is done thorough sleep scheduling scheme. In sleep scheduling scheme transceiver of ONU is put off when there is no data transmissio n. The aim of this pa per is to decrease power consumptio n for delay sensitive and delay insensitive traffic. A fuzzy rule table is constructed wit h prediction of average inter arrival time of frame on the basis o f outcome sleep time and power is evaluat ed. Proposed method offer effective power efficiency tha n previous inter arrival time metho d.
