  • 摘要:Image compression plays a major role in modern multimedia communications and internet traffic. JPEG is one of the standard algorithms which are being widely used. The purpose of this paper is to develop a compression algorithm which satisfies JPEG standard. This algorithm is being applied on Gray level images; with few additions it will be applicable for RGB images also. A useful property of JPEG is that the compression ratio can be varied by varying quality factor. Quality Factor of 25 can be achieved by maintaining a good quality of image.
