摘要：It is a great pleasure for me to introduce you the first issue of EMI in English. The EMI is still young; however both the quality and yield of interesting scientific articles are steadily increasing. Currently, EMI is registered in the international catalogue World Cat and the selected papers are indexed in the international databases Google Scholar, Scirus and Directory of Open Access Journals. In this issue, you can find papers focused on particular areas of economics, management and IT. This issue is very interesting and the author, Vijesh Jain, is presenting and analysing the results obtained from the comparison of multi-cultural workplaces from different large Italian cities, including other control variables like "gender", "age groups" and "income ¨C groups". The second article presents the overview of the characteristics of career concepts. The author, Hana Klupakova, deals with 8 main characteristics: responsibility for career, organizational structure, orientation of job position, mobility of employees, career paths, career development, and career planning and reward system. The next article highlights the significance of evaluating of databases in the business system. The authors, Adela Klepakova and Jana Slaninkova, summarize the results of the analysis of selected economic indicators of manufacturing enterprises in Slovakia and compare them in the time order with the indicating or selected indicator - the total cost.
