摘要:WS Ns have a number of sensor nodes which are extremely small in size, consuming low power and costing less. WSNs overweigh traditional network in the areas of deployment, scalability, ease of use and mobility. Due to lack of structure and resources, WSNs have a few limitations as compared to the traditional n etwork. Midd leware is a so ftwa re that fills the ga p or glues together the network hardware, network stacks, Operatin g System and applications. A middleware should facilita te development, deploymen t, execution an d maintenance of sensing based applications. It should pro vide wa ys to achieve maximum utilization of system resources; an environment that is capable of handling variou s applications. A middlewa re is an approach that meets the design and implementation challenges of WSN technologies. Each device (i.e., sensor node) requires an operating system (OS) which will act as a manager in contro lling the sen sor nodes helps in filling the gaps between application and the hardware and la st but not the least will provide hardware abstraction to the application software. These Oss are totally unlike our traditional OSs. OS a resource manag er comprising of variou s programs that help in managing various resources like memory, I/O devices, file system etc. is not at all suitable for WSNs. This is so because in WSNs the sensors are constrained with limited resources like memo ry, power, dynamic topo logy and various data cen tric applications.
