摘要：A methodology has been developed for identifying, classifyingand measuring open space in cities. A sample survey wascarried out in the Merseyside Metropolitan County in whichthe type, condition and extent of urban open space wasderived from colour infra red aerial photography.The results were mapped and digitised, and the provision ofopen space was compared with the socio- economic class of thepopulation. The results of this comparison are presented.This study of open space was carried out with the supportand co-operation of the Greek Government; the Departmentof Environment, London; and the Metropolitan County PlanningDepartment of Merseyside County U.K.
