摘要:Natural fibers are receiving considerableattention as substitutes for synthetic fiber reinforcementssuch as glass in polymer due to their low density, lowcost, acceptable specific strength, reduced tool wear andrespiratory irritation and renewable resources. The fibersare not uniformly distributed in the randomly orientedfiber reinforced hybrid composites due to manual lay-upand fibers agglomeration. This reduces the mechanicalproperties. The above problem can be solved byreinforcing the woven hybrid natural fiber laminatedcomposites. Polyester resin was used as a matrix. Thepresent work emphasis the sisal/cotton fiber woven matreinforced polyester composites preparation and analysingthe tensile behaviour (Dry and wet condition) by varyingthe fiber volume fraction (10, 20, 30 and 40%).At drycondition, while increasing the fiber content increases thetensile strength and modulus of the composites upto thevolume fraction of 30%.Further increase in fiber volumefraction decreases the tensile strength and modulus. Waterabsorption was carried out for 24 hours with differentcondition. This reduces the tensile properties.
