摘要:This paper investigates the study ofmechanical and machining behavior of AA 7075-3%TiB2 in-situ composite prepared by liquid metallurgyroute. This in-situ method involves formation ofreinforcements within the matrix by the chemicalreaction of two or more compounds which also producessome changes in the matrix material within the vicinity.Titanium Boride (TiB2) was the reinforcements in thematrix of AA 7075 alloy which can be suitable for space,aircraft and automotive components at elevatedtemperatures. The composite was prepared with theformation of the reinforcement inside the molten matrixby adding salts of Potassium Tetrafluoroborate (KBF4)and Potassium Hexafluorotitanate (K2TiF6). Themechanical properties in terms of hardness and impacttest were carried out. The sample of AA 7075 alloy wasalso casted and tested for comparison. It was observedthat the hardness and impact strength of AA 7075-3%TiB2 in-situ composite was improved by 25% and 10%than AA 7075 alloy respectively. The casted sampleswere subjected to turning using CNC turning machine.The chip morphology and the surface roughness weremeasured and reported.
