摘要:Hospitals play an important role inprotecting the health of a nation. However they also havean unhealthy side – inadvertently contributing to illnessand pollution by exposing patients and staff to toxinsfrom building materials, medical waste, hospital suppliesand cleaning products that consequently puts pressure onhospital supply chains. The hospital waste management isof immense importance due to its infectious andhazardous nature that can cause many effects on humanhealth and the environment. Government regulations andpublic awareness regarding hospital waste issues haveforced hospital units to adopt some strategies formanaging this waste. The new technologies andinstruments have been developed to handle hospitalwastes. In response to these pressures some hospitals haveinitiated Green supply chain management practices.Green supply chain management integratesEnvironmental Management and Supply ChainManagement. It has gained popularity in organizationswith objectives of reducing waste and preserving thequality of product-life and the natural resources. In thiswork the potential barriers that prevent the greening effortof the hospital waste sector in India was analyzed andmodeled by using Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM)technique.
