摘要:Weld hardfacing is mainly employed forimproving wear, corrosion and heat resistant propertiesunder high pressure and high temperature condition. Theservice life of the hardfaced component is increased byachieving the desired surface hardness which isidentification to get the abrasive wear resistance. Themacrohardness is generally influenced by weldingprocess parameters such as welding current, weldingspeed, powder feed rate, plasma gas flow rate andoscillation frequency. Therefore, it is essential to developmathematical models for the selection of appropriatewelding process parameters that can predict the desiredweld macrohardness. This paper mainly focuses thedevelopment of mathematical models using five factor,five level factorial technique to predict macrohardness inhardfaced gate valve. Analysis of variance was used tocheck the adequacy of the developed models. Also theempirical models developed were checked by conductingconfirmation experiments. The effects of weldingprocess parameters on the macrohardness are presentedas graphs.
