  • 摘要:Improving the boiler efficiency has become a wide research interest in the recent past. Boiler tube designhas also undergone drastic changes for improving the efficiency of the engine. In this regard boiler tubes with leadriffles have gained more prominence due to its ability to avoid heat loss at walls due to film condensation. So the aimof the present study is to enhance the heat transfer rate of boiler tubes further by using inserts like central helicaltwisted ribbon and full helical twisted ribbon or circumferential insert.In this study four different tubes were considered like plain boiler tubes, Lead Rifled boiler tubes, boiler tubes withcenter helical ribbon and full ribbon tubes .Numerical analysis has been carried out on this tubes using ANSYS CFX.The results are compared with lead riffled tubes which showed a rise in temperatures for center helical ribbon and fullRibbon or circumferential inserted tubes. A highest temperature of about 892oK has obtained at the outlet for fullRibbon or circumferential inserted boiler tubes. On average it is found that there is a 20% rise in the temperatures atoutlet of the full ribbon boiler tube than MLR.
