  • 摘要:Major exhaust emissions from diesel engines are CO, CO2, PM, UHC and NOx, from which NOx is oneof the main harmful content of exhaust. Lots of techniques works in this area to control NOx emissions and EGR is oneof the most useable techniques that show outstanding results to control NOx in both light and heavy duty diesel engines.Presently the experiment has been conducted on a 4-stroke, single cylinder water cooled diesel engine. Here long routeEGR system was used in both hot (insulated) and partially cooled (without insulation) conditions, EGR rate were variedfrom 0 to 24% in steps of 6% and engine was running at various load conditions. Research objective is to find out theeffects of varying EGR ratio and temperature on engine performance parameters and determine the effective EGR ratewhere the engine gives high performance, low fuel consumption and produces low emissions.
