摘要：Education has a profound impact on the personality and potential of an individual, directly impacting thestandards of living of society and the growth and development of nation. Skilled human resource is an invaluable assetof the country. The knowledge and education has been recognized as an engine of growth and development, and hencethe apex organization of higher education in country the University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken a strategicand visionary step by setting up of centres like HRDCs in various regions of the country. In order to achieve theacademic excellence the faculty education with emerging development in science and technology, humanities,management etc, and the advances in research and developments are the crucial requirements. The HRDCs are devotedto provide an innovative and holistic approach to the knowledge enrichment of the faculty/researchers as well as thestudents by various creative, innovative programmes. The aim of the present review is to provide the informationregarding the origin of HRDCs, role played by them in academic excellence with particular emphasis on the educationof faculty/teachers of science, technology and research and development related fields, along with the organizationstructure of HRDC required for the successful functioning.
