摘要:Most of the modern portable devices exhibits multimedia applications and demand energy efficientdesigns. The Gaussian filter is commonly used to remove noise while maintains the structure of the object in the scene.In this paper, a novel reconfigurable Gaussian smoothing filter (R-GSF) architecture is proposed. The proposed filtercan be reconfigured to provide higher energy saving at the cost of small loss of quality. The effectiveness of theproposed filter is evaluated and compared over the existing filters. Simulation result shows proposed filter requires13%, reduced area over existing energy scalable Gaussian smoothing filter. Further, the proposed filter reduces 57.2%delay over the existing. Finally, the proposed R-GSF filter requires 53.2% reduced energy consumption over theexisting filter.
