摘要：Shiga toxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC) is a newly emerged pathogen has gained immense attentionacross the globe. It causes large scale epidemics and thousands of sporadic cases of diarrheal illness every year. STECinfections have been reported across the world and causes mild illness to severe bloody diarrhoea and even lifethreateningcomplications such as HUS in humans. The serotype O157:H7 has recently become a public-healthproblem of serious concern as it targets infants and young children. The review here describes the epidemiology ofSTEC in Indian subcontinent.
