摘要:The present study is an attempt to studythe effect of various geometrical stiffeners parametersin the critical/ultimate buckling load capacity ofcircular Lean Duplex Stainless Steel (LDSS) stubcolumn loaded axially using finite element (FE)analysis, through Abaqus (2009). The effect of increasein number of stiffeners (Ns), thickness of stiffener andwidth of stiffener were studied on the critical bucklingload capacity. Based on the FE analyses, an increase ofbuckling load capacity has been observed withincreasing number of stiffeners. The increase ofbuckling load followed a nearly linear trend. Thebuckling load for the stiffened column in comparisonto the unstiffened column, increases from ~ 120 % to180 %, when Ns (number of stiffeners) is increased by500% from Ns = 4. An increase of buckling loadcapacity has also been observed for both increasing inthickness and width of the stiffeners.
