摘要:This paper presents numerical modelling ofLDSS (Lean Duplex Stainless Steel) Class 3 flat ovalhollow section columns under pure axial compressionusing the commercial finite element software, Abaqus(2010). A parametric study has been carried out toassess the effects of thickness and flat length on theload and deformation capacity of flat oval stubcolumns. The columns with longer flat length havemore column strength than that of column with shorterflat length. The percentage increase in strength alongwith the increase in area is more in case of increase inthickness than the column with increase in flat length.The deformation capacity of the flat oval columnreduces as the flat length of the column increases in thecross-section. The current code of EN 1993-1-4 (2006)can be used for the prediction of compact LDSS flatoval column.
