摘要:Developing, testing and implementing indicators toidentify and assess vulnerability to floods are an importantpre-requisite for effective disaster risk reduction. In thepresent study, the vulnerability assessment of ArunachalPradesh for flood has been carried out.Vulnerability as afunction of weighted indicators of hazard, exposure andadaptive capacity has been determined using HEAV (Hazard/Exposure/ Adaptive Capacity/ Vulnerability) methodology.Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to assign weightsto normalized indicators. Among 16 districts, for two districts(East Siang and Lohit), vulnerability index is more than 0.5and flood prone area is more than 15%; for three districts(Papumpare, Lower Subansiri and Lower Dibang Valley),vulnerability index is less than 0.5 but flood prone area ismore than 15%; for one district (Changlang), vulnerabilityindex is more than 0.5 but flood prone area is less than 15%;and for rest ten districts, vulnerability index is less than 0.5and flood prone area is also less than 15%. In ArunachalPradesh, two districts, East Siang and Lohit are the hotspotsfor vulnerability to floods.
