摘要:This paper describes the application ofMultichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW) tocharacterize the subsurface. Active MASW survey hasbeen conducted in the plain terrain near the CivilEngineering Department, IIT Guwahati. The outputsignals collected in the geophones during theexperimentation (time-domain signals) is post-processedthrough Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) with the aid of adeveloped Matlab code to obtain the frequency-domainsignals. Following the existing phase-shift method,summed-up normalized amplitude with varying phasevelocity curve is determined which is very important forthe identification of energy accumulation in thedispersion image space. A commercially availablesoftware known as EasyMASW is introduced to obtainthe shear wave velocity profile of the soil. EasyMASWresults shows that the shear wave velocity is affected bythe sampling frequency of data acquisition. Theambiguity in the results obtained from EasyMASW isalso highlighted.
