  • 摘要:Setback buildings contribute a large portion of urban infrastructure. They are characterised bystaggeredabrupt reductions in floor area, with consequent drops in mass, strength and stiffness along the building height.Theestimation of the fundamental period of vibration is unavoidable in seismic analysis and design of buildings. Theempirical equations of fundamental period given in the design codes are function of building height only. Hence, tostudy accuracy of existing code based equations used to calculate fundamental period and suggest neededimprovements, fundamental time period of 90 T shaped building models with varying heights, bay widths andirregularities were found usingdifferent code basedequations, Rayleigh’s method and ETABS 2015 software.Acomparative study was made between all these building configurations and amount of irregularity was calculated usingvarious methods.Subsequently, modified equations are proposed on basis of the regression analysis for estimating thefundamental period of the buildings.
