  • 摘要:Traverses (polygons) from two caves havebeen tested: Wielka Śnieżna Cave System(2858 vectors) and Śnieżna Studnia cave(742). The box counting technique was appliedto evaluate the fractal analysis of spatialorientation of traverses. The polygonalsurvey of Wielka Śnieżna Cave, ŚnieżnaStudnia and both caves merged togetherhave a fractal geometry. It may be concludedthat these caves are close to the full recognitionof passages forming by a hydrologicalsystem and they could have close relationwith geological structures. The usual explanationof fractal dimension D higher than1 indicates that caves with such dimensionfill more space than those with ideal dimensionof 1.00 (for example a straight line), andthe geological constraints limit the dimensionto be lower than 2 (Verbovsek 2007). Itmay suggest that systems can be developpedinto more complicated passages in future. The fact that both caves merged togetheralso have showed fractal geometry indicatesthat they are belonging to the same hydrologicalsystem. It was noticed that D-valueof merged caves is slightly larger than individualcave. It can be explained by “occupying”more space in rock mass.
