摘要:High mountain areas belong to the last places onEarth, where natural environment has hardly beenchanged due to human impact and where vast regionshave been preserved nearly intact. Moreover, high mountains are relatively poorly studied, althoughincreasingly more intensively penetrated areasof the world. Therefore, it deems necessary torecognize functioning of natural environment ofsuch regions, as well as the means and results of humanactivity. The results of studies of scientists representingdifferent branches of natural sciences, includinggeomorphology and geoecology, can providea basis for elaborating more effective methods ofprotection of high mountain regions under conditionsof increasing anthropopression and, particularly, still developing tourist infrastructure. Predictionof future environmental changes in these areasis also likely.
