摘要：In article the data on a condition of the Cossack troops on the eve of "Great reforms" of Alexander II submitted in the vsepoddanneyshikh reports of the Ministry of Defence for the first fifth anniversary of their official publication from 1858 to 1862 are analyzed. The statistical materials generalized by us reflect demographic processes among the Cossacks, military and economic development of the Cossack troops, situation in education and so forth during the specified period. In article the assumption of possible influence of contents of reports on the made decisions concerning the Cossacks becomes.
