摘要：The article on the base of first introduced in scientific use the archival documents considers the facts of the adoption by Ubykh princes the oath of allegiance to the Emperor Nicholas I. The article was preparing by using the documents of the Russian state historical archive, the state archive of the Krasnodar region and the archival Department of Sochi administration. The authors show that in the first half of the 1840s years the Ubykh princes and the russian administration have taken the effective steps to appease the region. As a result, some of the Ubykh princes became the officers of the Russian Imperial army. However, the total peace has not happened. The reason for this was the disunity of mountain society, occurred as a result of Russia's policy.
