摘要：In less developed countries, advancements in industrialization consequently comes with increase of work related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) which results into occupational injuries and disabilities. However, they are still neglected as perceived to be insignificant relative to other major epidemic diseases. In recent years, there has been increasing evidence that factors like poor working environment and lack of ergonomics training plays an important role in the development of musculoskeletal disorders. The current study provides detailed insights towards prevalence of work related musculoskeletal symptoms (WMSS) and their association with both WMSDs and stress symptoms using standardized Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire (NMQ) as a tool. Results elucidate that the prevalence of WMSDs among motorcycle mechanics was significantly high in shoulders, neck, and low back compared to other body parts in which significantly high correlation was observed between neck pain and age of the respondents. Furthermore, there was a strong correlation between prevalence of shoulder and neck pain. Besides, results of a frequencies and cross-tabulations indicated that prolong work hours were significantly associated with emergence of musculoskeletal/stress symptoms. The high prevalence of WMSS and WMSDs among the motorcycles mechanics of Lahore (Pakistan) reflects the ignorance on this critical issue by the national and international public health concerning organizations. A possible recommendation of this research includes the implementation of health and safety guidelines for the mentioned industry.
