摘要:Full ceramic zirconia crowns and bridges are preferred by dentists and patients because of their superior esthetic and mechanical properties. Zirconia is a biocompatible material that provides natural-like tooth appearance. Resin cements are generally preferred in cementation of zirconia restorations. Bonding of zirconia-based ceramics to resin cements cannot be achieved with the same methods used for traditional glass porcelain because zirconia is a silica-free, acid-resistant and polycrystalline ceramic. In recent years, the bonding between zirconia and luting agent has been of great concern among researchers. Many methods have been developed and reported in the literature for providing enhanced adhesion. The purpose of this review was to give comprehensive knowledge about the surface pretreatments used for improving zirconia-resin cement bonding.
