摘要:OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of heat treatment and veneering procedures on the biaxial flexural strength of partially- and fully-sinterized zirconia core materials. MATERIALS AND METHOD: Disc-shaped specimens (n=54;15 mm in diameter and 1 mm in thickness) were prepared from fully- and partially-stabilized zirconia blocks by using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology. The discs were divided randomly into 6 groups, each comprising 9 samples. The groups were established as the control group, heat-treated group and veneering group. Biaxial flexural strength (piston on three balls) was determined for all specimens. The data were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA (analysis of variance) test. RESULTS: In partially-stabilized zirconia specimens, differences between the mean biaxial flexural strength values of the control and the heat-treated group, and control and the veneering group were not statistically significant (p=0.227 and p=0.351, respectively). For fully-stabilized zirconia specimens, the biaxial flexural strength values were significantly lower in the heat-treated group compared with the control and the veneering group (p=0.022 and p<0.001, respectively). The mean biaxial flexural strength values of the control and the veneering group were not significantly different (p=0.211). CONCLUSION: When comparing the mean biaxial flexural strength values of all groups, the greatest values were found in the fully-sinterized and veneered group and the lowest values were found in the partially-sinterized and heat-treated group.
