摘要:INTRODUCTION: Odontogenic myxomas are benign, but locally invasive tumors originating from periodontal ligament or primordial mesenchymal tooth-forming tissues. Odontogenic myxomas can be found in both the maxilla and the mandible, usually associated with a tooth germ. They occur in all age groups with the peak incidence in the third decade. There is a wide variety in clinical and radiographic appearance. However, the most common presentation is an asymptomatic jaw expansion and a multilocular radioluceny. In the literature, different surgical approaches ranging from simple curettage and peripheral ostectomy to segmental resection have been reported. Long-term follow-up is crucial as myxomas have a significant tendency to recur. CASE REPORT: In this case report, an odontogenic myxoma located in the mandible in a 13-year-old female patient treated by a conservative surgical approach following enucleation and curettage was presented. CONCLUSION: Aesthetic and oral functions were rapidly fulfilled following treatment, and according to clinical and radiographical signs, it was found at the 20-month follow-up period that the lesion healed. The patient and her parents were informed about the importance of a periodical followup for the forthcoming period.
