摘要:Dershanes in Turkey are like Bamboo plants; take quite long time to grow but in when required conditions are provided they grow so rapidly that they cannot be uprooted easily. Their academic efficiency and closure are seriously open to debate today due to financial, social and educational factors. The purpose of this study is to reveal public perception on Dershane debates and shed light on the complexity from different perspectives to develop contemporary solutions. This research aims to reveal public attitude towards Dershanes through a 24 item Questionnaire developed by the researcher (α: .76). 961 participants involved in the study and statistical data was analyzed by performing parametric tests including One Way ANOVA, T-test and frequency analysis to reveal if different social groups (monthly income, age, education level and profession) significantly differ within themselves. The results are supported by descriptive findings. The findings are multifaceted, indicating that attitudes towards Dershane phenomenon remarkably differ in each social group. The findings point out that people perceive Dershanes in accordance with their socio-economic status, age, profession and education level. On the other hand, a majority of the participants gather around the idea that a sudden total closure of these private institutions may cause more complexities.
