  • 摘要:In this study, Bactident E. coli (rapid test based on MUG) and indole test supported by UV which was indicated in previous ISO method (ISO 9308:2000) was compared. Both methods were applied on 46 E. coli strains which were isolated from different food samples, 4 reference E. coli strains, 2 non-coliform bacteria as Salmonella Enteritidis and Klebsiella oxytoca which can be grown on the coliform media. 46 E. coli isolates, isolated from various foods and identified by MUG and indole tests. According to results accuracy of indole test supported by UV was determined as 94.1% whereas it was found 100% for Bactident E. coli. K. oxytoca has caused problem in UV supported indole test. In laboratory conditions, using Bactident E. coli is more rapid and easy then UV supported indole test.
