摘要:This article invites us to reflect on inquiry of the quality of basic education in Chile, from a gender perspective. To do this, we analyzed the discursive praxis of a group of students of pedagogy through a group interview, identifying the metaphors that make their speech, which shows the characterization of their own teacher identity. We conclude that, beyond the professional attributes, education in Chile is a profession exercised mostly by women, on which rests the maternal apostolate and other principles inherent in the female gender stereotype. This over-population of female teachers can be the reason for the quality of basic education in Chile to be stuck.
