摘要：The study explored the contribution of biogas program on the climate change mitigation and forest conservation in Meru District. A total of 70 were involved in the study. The study adopted mixed research method for data collection and analysis. Data collection instruments were questionnaires for the biogas users, in-depth interview guides for village leaders, and biogas experts, observation guide and document analysis guides. The study found that 58.6% of effectiveness of biogas energy is moderate compared to 24.3% poor and 17.1% high, due to the meet demand of energy, where by only 50% of respondent were using biogas twice per day. It was discovered that there is a relationship between the biogas program and climate change mitigation in Meru whereby majority 54.3% appreciated the biogas and believed that it has the positive relationship in social, economic and environment. The above facts conclude that the biogas program has very positive impact on peoples, socio economic well-being and forest resource conservation. The researcher recommends that biogas program should be integrated with other development program like livestock improvement, plantation and community forestry program, income generating activities, population control, Education provision, reduction of the construction cost and frequent monitoring of biogas plant is also highly required and provide incentives to biogas users
