摘要:This article aims to propose a better comprehension of today’s tourism phenomenon in face of the contemporary urbanization issues and the capitalist production organization. In general terms, discusses the relation between urban projects and the tourism activity, referring analytically to the “post-modern” production organization and the principles of urban management – such as Harvey’s “urban entrepreneurialism” (Harvey, 1996). For such, it was held a study case about some portions of Rio Branco, Acre (AC/Brazil) city’s revitalization by Acre River, aiming to understand locally contemporary urbanization and tourism issues – on the frame of large urban projects concepts. As result, it can be pointed out that even in a diverse urban context of those in capitalist system’s central cities or the “global cities”, as quoted by Sassen (1991), in Rio Branco there have been carried on tourism development actions regarding re-use of urban heritage.
