摘要：This article focus on identifying important points in the relation between environment, biodiversity and tourism, focusing on species that can be used as key species, and as flagship species. Some of these species were chosen on the basis of bibliographical revision, taking into account their importance as ecosystem symbols in many regions of the world and Brazil. In touristic areas some examples of fauna were enumerated and used as marks of attractiveness and affection. This was important to assure their survival and the conservation of the natural environment where they live in. The social, cultural and economic importance of the flagship species were also considered, taking into account well elaborated public politics.
