摘要：Institutional repositories represent democratization of access to the scientific and cultural production of universities. The Federal University of Bahia is the oldest and main university of Bahia State and has important scientific production due, mainly, to its more than 60 graduate programs. It maintains, traditionally, a fruitful relationship with society trough its cultural activities. However it does not have a policy to disseminate its scientific production. Technological developments and worldwide movements like the Open Archives Initiative (OAI) allow it to: recuperate, store, provide and disseminate its researchers´ production.
