摘要：This article has as main objective the proposal of a model of Environmental Management System (EMS), adapted to the school reality. The methodology was based on a review of the literature, field research and multiple case studies with a sample of 06 schools in the state system. Results indicate that environmental management in schools is improvised, precarious, developed, and disconnected, since no consistent experience was found in the research sample. Therefore, the school EMS is an alternative tool for developing more effective environmental practices in schools, and thus promote a more harmonious relationship between nature and society.
