摘要:The aim of this article is to offer a complete overview of doctoral research into public relations presented at Spanish universities (1965-2005), going as far back as the very earliest doctoral dissertations to take public relations as the subject of their research. Research has not been abundant in this field in comparison with the number of dissertations produced in the fields of journalism and mass media studies. Those that have been produced, however, have addressed the different aspects of public relations, focusing mainly on its instrumental dimension. This has meant that they have contributed very little to public relations theory.
