摘要：A Rede Sulbrasileira de Investigadores da Educação Superior (RIES) articula pesquisa-dores de nove universidades gaúchas e faz interface com grupos de pesquisa de outros estados brasilei-ros e países latino-americanos. Vem desenvolvendo estudos sobre a história, políticas e práticas pedagógicas universitárias. O artigo relaciona-se a um projeto de pesquisa da RIES que objetiva mapear a produção científica no âmbito da educação superior no RS. Nesse recorte apresentam-se os dados atinentes ao estado de conhecimento advindo de dissertações e teses, produzidas no PPG das Universidades gaúchas e periódicos e livros publicados no estado. A coleta de dados se deu junto aos Programas de pós-graduação, ao site da CAPES, aos periódicos do RS e a biblioteca virtual UNIVERSITAS. A análise do material propiciou a construção de categorias temáticas e de cruzamen-tos para a análise da incidência das temáticas numa distribuição temporal, institucional e temática. O Rio Grande do Sul apresenta uma marcante produção sobre pedagogia universitária ligada diretamente aos cursos e programas de pós-graduação, principalmente de educação. ABSTRACT – The South Brazilian Researchers Network of Higher Education (RIES) articulates researchers from nine universities of Rio Grande do Sul and dialogs with research groups from of other Brazilian states and Latin American countries. It has been developing studies on history, policies and universities pedagogical practices. The article addresses it a project of research of the RIES that aims at identifying the scientific production in the scope of the Higher Education in the RS. In this study we present the data related to the state of knowledge originated from: masters’ theses and doc-toral dissertations produced in the Graduate Programs; scientifics journals on education; and books, published in the state. Data collection took place in the Graduate Programs, in the CAPES’ website, RS scientific journals and virtual library UNIVERSITAS. The analysis of the material propitiated the construction of thematic categories and of crossings for the analysis of the incidence of the object in a timing, institutional and thematic distribution. The Rio Grande do Sul State presents a representative production on higher education pedagogic, linked to the Graduate courses and programs, mainly of education.
