摘要：The present working context, which requires a new professional’s profile that is suitable with the dynamics taken on by organisations, has imposed some changes in the educational system. In the heart of this debate, the notion of competencies has occupied a privileged position, and was chosen as the pedagogical perspective to implement an education reform in several countries, including Brazil. Our interest in the topic and in accomplishing the present work was raised when verifying first that the notion of competencies has leaded the definition of the present professional’s profiles in organisations, and second the apparent attempt to integrate these profiles and the processes related to formation and education, which are the foundation of syllabuses and curricula designing nationwide. The present research has involved five Higher Education Schools. The main focus was the question: how is the competency issue considered in Business Administration courses? More than searching for answers, our main concern has been to raise points for reflection about a topic that involves many more aspects than defining the graduate students’ profile and the competencies to be developed. These represent only the very beginning of a process that is not at all simple, and that involves some changes in the teachers’ profession itself.
