摘要：The patent registration in Brazil and in the world has been verified as a developing markers in innovation, technology and economic growth. In this area of knowledge production, universities contribute in different ways in different regions for production, distribution and on sale of innovative products. The study objective is to analyze the production of patents produced in public academic institutions in the Northeast in ten years, with investment increasing and academic production. This is an exploratory and bibliographic research of scientific investigation based on data collected from the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), in scientific papers and other specialized sources. The results of this research reveal the institutions that stood out in the production of patents and have more research groups in this period. In addition, it highlights the need for dissemination and investment on innovation and technology in the academic area.
