摘要:The writing rules of the Diário Carioca, first elaborated in 1950, are considered in the Journalism history of Brazil as the first writing manual of the Brazilian press. The newspaper lasted from 1928 to 1965. However, in 1929, the former editor of the A Província newspaper, Gilberto Freyre, in Recife, established the precursor of the Brazilian writing manuals. Freyre sticked a paper on the editorial office’s mural with guidelines on how to write a story. The objective of this paper is to recover this historical fact and make a short analysis on the writing manuals.
