摘要：Este artigo apresenta uma interpretação do humanismo materialista de perspectiva marxiana e sua relação com a educação. Inicialmente conceitua-se o homem como um ser de práxis, ou melhor, como ser natural, social e cultural que se constitui historicamente a partir de sua prática produtiva, sócio - política e simbólica. Além disso, afirma-se a desumanização do homem pelas relações que estabelece com a natureza, com a sociedade e com a cultura no contexto atual. O desafio, portanto, que se apresenta aos que pretendem a re-humanização é o de se estabelecer um método, fundado em princípios que possam re-orientar o homem para em direção à sua própria humanização, ou seja, reeducá-lo de forma a reengajar-se com sua dimensão natural, social e cultural, aviltadas pela dinâmica da sociedade capitalista em sua atual fase de desenvolvimento. Palavras-chave: Educação. Engajamento. Humanismo. Materialismo. Abstract This paper presents an interpretation of materialist humanism based on Marx’s work and its relationship with education. Initially, it conceptualises man as a being of praxis, or rather, like a natural, social and cultural being which is historically constituted from its productive, social, political and symbolic practices. Besides this, it reaffirms the dehumanization of man as a result of the relationship established with nature, society and culture in the current context. The challenge to those who intend re-humanization is to establish a method based on principles that could re-orient man towards his own humanization: that is to re-educate men in such a way that they can re-engage themselves with their natural, social and cultural dimensions, despite being mistreated by the dynamics of capitalist society in its current stage of development.
