摘要:For decades, technology has been considered as an alternative to improve productivity among other business benefits. Based on the classical work of Zuboff, two logics of implementation of information technology in an intra-organizational context are discussed in this study in this essay. Automation refers to traditional decisions of substitution of human labor to allow amelioration of continuity, efficiency and controls of processes and thus the reduction of costs. Informatization, on its turn, aims to improve the comprehensiveness of the system, allowing for the construction of a learning environment. However, understanding informatization demands the fostering of broad discussions to explore the implications of such a process to organizations. This theoretical essay aims to contribute to an interdisciplinary reference framework useful to the comprehension and to the successful implementation of an informatization strategy. We suggest the relevance of conducting such a discussion within IT decisions, many of which are taken aiming only short term expectations and immediate financial returns. It is argued that automation is aligned to a mechanistic and burocratic managerial form, while informatization demands innovation towards more flexible forms. Nevertheless, recognizing such as argument frictions against traditional managerial priorities of analysis and investments
