摘要：The present article examines the book Juicio Crítico del Bosquejo Histórico de la República Oriental del Uruguay por el Dr. D. Francisco A. Berra written by Carlos María Ramírez and the role of the author in the construction of José Artigas idealized image. Published in 1882, a period represented by the intense debate about the Uruguayan past, this work participated in the image rehabilitation process of the independentist leader characterizing him as a great Uruguayan Nationality Precursor and rescuer.
