摘要:This article presents results from a study project about federal congressmen, senators and ministers serving within the period of 1994-2003 who had connections with associations or trade unions of physicians, lawyers, engineers, journalists and similar professions. Simultaneously, it discusses some analytical problems related to this kind of study. According to the main working hypothesis, on the one hand the professional conditions and classifications should not be neglected, as they are an integral part of the struggles for legitimate representation of interests and the possible reconversion of collective capital accumulated through association into electoral resource. On the other hand, these classifications should be put in relation to the different kinds of capital, principles of legitimization and spheres of engagement and militancy. After presenting the politicians connected with the mentioned associations or trade unions vis-à-vis other modes of professional classification and commitment, the articles focuses on some exemplary careers. Furthermore, it present the weight and significance of entering into politics through “positions of trust”.
