摘要：A partir da leitura de Terras do sem fim (1943) e Gabriela, cravo e canela (1958) de Jorge Amado, têm-se como hipóteses a sua escrita do Brasil, ou seja, a leitura cifrada feita pelo romancista através das problematizações (e soluções) da formação da sociedade brasileira entre o início do século XX e os anos 50. A outra hipótese diz respeito à continuidade do ciclo de cacau nos romances, ou seja, à continuidade de Terras do Sem Fim em Gabriela, cravo e canela . Para tanto, partimos da leitura dos romances, da discussão da posição que o narrador, em terceira pessoa, ocupa e da estrutura romanesca em direção às discussões dos processos de modernização da região cacaueira e do Brasil. Besides that, the other hypothesis is about the ongoing cocoa cycle in the novels, or to say in another words, the continuation of Terras do sem fim in Gabriela, cravo e canela . To do so, we start from the reading of the novels, discussing the position where the third person narrator occupies and of the romance structure going towards the discussions about the modernization process in the cocoa region and Brazil.
