摘要：O artigo analisa o romance, Capitães da areia , do escritor Jorge Amado, com ênfase na con vivência harmônica entre a poesia e o engajamento social. O contexto aparentemente vulgar, em que ocorrem as aventuras e desventuras dos capitães, estimula o autor na produção de texto poético que envolve idealismo e luta social. Diante da finalidade de crítica social do romance em questão, entende-se que o mundo é apresentado por intermédio da perspectiva dos excluídos e marginalizados. E, no âmbito literário, observa-se a sensibilidade artística do escritor, ao instituir um mundo ideal por intermédio da linguagem. Segundo Rossi (2009), torna-se fundamental evidenciar como a militância partidária e as posições do autor no campo das lutas ideológicas interferiram de maneira decisiva na concepção e no formato da obra ficcional de Jorge Amado. Além disso, é possível identificar a visão poética do escritor a respeito dos costumes, tradições e religiosidade baiana. PALAVRAS-CHAVE : Capitães da Areia; Crítica social; Idealismo; Poesia. The context, seemingly vulgar, in which occurring the adventures and misadventures of the captains, encourages the writer in production of poetic text that involves idealism and social fight. Given the purpose of social critique of the novel in question, it is understood that the world is presented through the perspective of the excluded and marginalized. And in literary terms, there is the artistic sensibility of the writer, to establish an ideal world through language. According to Rossi (2009), it is essential to show how partisan militancy and the positions of the author in the field of the ideological fights intervened decisively in the design and format of the Jorge Amado fictional work. In addition, it is possible to identify the writer’s poetic vision about the customs, traditions and religion of Bahia. KEYWORDS : “Capitães da Areia”; Idealism; Poetry; Social critique.
