摘要:The paper evaluates some implications and consequences of the Brazilian coup in 1964, from the perspective of the history of international relations. Specifically, the research explores the crisis and recomposition of the bilateral relations between Brazil and Mexico, besides the reserves of the Government of Adolfo López Mateos to recognize the new Brazilian authorities, commanded by general Humberto Castelo Branco. In that sense, the paper recognizes the relevance of the East-West competition, the so called Estrada doctrine, the question of the type of political regime in the international insertion of Latin American countries, and other converged topics of intra-regional agenda at the time of the events. The paper is a result of research with primary sources rescued in the Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Brasilia).
