A GLASS HALF EMPTY OR FULL?
Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill had trouble deciding whether
to feel elated or desperate about the illustration of him on the cover
of TIE's May/June 2001 issue. According to an aide, O'Neill
joked that he wasn't sure whether the illustration was supposed to
represent him riding the wave "of a blockbuster" or standing
on the deck of a "sinking ship."
O'Neill had another question about the cover too:
"Where's the cute girl" who's the love interest of
the hero of the movie Titanic?
Despite the omission of Kate Winslet, O'Neill asked TIE for a
signed copy of the cover illustration, which was drawn by Patricia
Raine, TIE's regular cover artist. Apparently, the former aluminum
king liked being depicted as king of the world.
